Learn how to stitch patchwork quilt blocks in day two of a two day workshop. On day 2 we will also cover binding the quilts. Can be taken as a stand alone class too!!
This is a great class to take after the beginners class as the sewing will be mostly straight lines and it will allow you to practice more seams and other skills learned in the beginners class. You will need to know how to handle a sewing machine for this class but it’s very much still a class that’s achievable for beginners.
During this workshop you will work on one or more sample piece to learn the essential skills of quilting.
+ How you can start sewing without measuring/ planning/ cutting, and how you can design your own patterns
+ How to baste and prepare your quilt for machine stitching
+ How to machine quilt using a variety of techniques
+ How to bind your quilt sample
+ What wadding is best for your project
+ An overview of quilting tools needed to get started
The skills learnt in this class will prepare you to tackle bigger quilting projects at home.
You will cover design, measuring, cutting, the use of various tools, and stitching. Then we will also discuss and learn all the different quilting techniques and tools. The classes runs for 5 hours each. They can be taken as stand alone classes although there are techniques covered only in one class which are quite important.
If you want to bring your own sewing machine please email me first as not all the feet we need to use fit on all machines
You can always join a Wednesday evening stitch and bitch to start on or finish a larger quilt! They run weekly 7-10pm just let me know the day before if you’re coming. (These are peer led get togethers, not taught classes)
