In Stitches, my beautiful and useful sewing handbook

My self-published sewing handbook “In Stitches” is full of solid sewing knowledge, tips, and how-to’s!

It started out as a project to replace the handouts I gave out at the end of each class, and turned into an incredible project showcasing my extensive knowledge and Simon Daley’s beautiful photography. This stunning book not only looks great but is a no nonsense handbook showing you everything from how to put the bobbin in your machine, to advice of what machine to buy and how to sew with knits, and includes a directory of useful tools and shops to boot! Useful and beautiful, just the way William Morris would have liked it! I decided to self publish so I did not have to compromise on substance nor style or conform to what is hot with publishers that season. I wanted my book to be timeless and remain useful and not just be a fluffy coffee table piece that would be flicked through once. I am super proud of the beautiful AND useful book we produced (William Morris would have agreed!)

It contains everything a sewist needs including:

  • threading up
  • tension
  • seams and hems
  • sewing machine TLC
  • understanding a commercial dress pattern
  • basic patchwork quilting
  • free-motion machine embroidery
  • applique
  • PLUS 5 super useful patterns
  • complimented by stunning photography by Simon Daley.

It is for sale in my studio and in my shop here
