Even though I do not have any school aged children living at home any more I am always excited for Back to school. I can’t imagine ever being not in that rhythyhm of school holidays and school terms, it was a part of my daily life since since about 2001 and even now, I have to take my holidays with Max during the school holidays still, we set up kid classes in the half terms, I feed a lot of cats for clients whilst they are away, mostly in the school holidays, and I am wary of booking adult classes in during Easter and Summer holidays as so many people are away. It is such a part of my annual cycle, I get more excited about the start of the school year than the actual start of an actual year – I mean, after the chocolate fest that is Xmas what can early January bring other than bloat, cold, a sugar come down? Whereas September… spider season, new pens, the start of possibly my favourite season, late summer sunshine and crunchy leaves, last minute outdoor swims and more knitting in the evenings. Pack the fans away, it won’t be 36 degrees again for AGES (phew). Of course I do NOT condone shops already stocking Xmas stuff, and I even saw a full Xmas display in a local pub this Friday, when it was still August. I will not have it haha *******************************************
Online classes: one done, one halfway done, many more planned
I have launched my first online class! I have been working on it for ages, maybe years, the research into what learning platform to use, the uploading videos to YouTube, the doctoring and figuring things out… it has been a learning curve and a half! But now the beginners class is live and I am halfway through writing and recording the dressmaking class and there will be many others too! Great for looking back at techniques and tools, for learning in your own space and in your own time! https://www.cheekyhandmades.co.uk/courses/ ********************************************
